Since then Geoffery has performed in numerous country music festivals, and as a result of winning first prize at the 1993 Derby Boab Festival has performed at the Gympie Muster and other venues in Queensland. He has also performed at Tamworth Country Music Festival, and as a quest artist for the Lord Mayor of Toowoomba and the Wunan Regional Plan launch. Other first prizes include a Derby “Be Smoke Free” competition and the 1995 Koori Talent Award.
Geoffery has toured and/or performed as a quest artist with Brian Young, the Benning Brothers and the Spurs of Vengeance.
RECORDINGS
Geoffery's music has had two professional recordings. The first collection of original songs was released on cassette in 1993 as “Kimberley Bush Ballads”. The second was released on cassette and CD in 1996 as “Limbs from a Different Tree”, and featured such well know musicians as Lucky Oceans and Ian Simpson. The title track won first prize in the Aboriginal Health Talent Quest at the 1996 Tamworth festival.
His latest album “Walkin' with Jack” was recorded in Broome in 1998 featuring musicians from the Pigram Brothers and the legendary Barry Thornton.
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Geoffery has also written songs on Community Health issues in his home town of Halls Creek, including a prize winning song “The Larrikin” about the dangers of AIDS. He featured, playing his own songs, in a video “Our Children, Our Future” promoting healthy food and lifestyle.
In 1996 he was involved in training Halls Creek High School students in the skills of playing in a band and using a P.A.
Geoffery also sang and narrated on a promotional video for the Halls Creek Shire.
While living in Carnarvon in his teens Geoffery performed in the Port hotel as a singer and a guitarist, playing on the old “Eko” guitar from Elvira Station. He also traveled to Perth to record three or four songs by his musical idol, Buddy Williams. The recordings was transferred from the tape to a 45 record by 6PR radio station.
Geoffery’s breakthrough as a musician came at a rodeo concert in Broome in 1963. Buddy Williams was top of the bill, and had heard from other local musicians that this young man was a big fan and knew all of his songs. After finding out that both were true, Buddy invited Geoffery up on stage to perform with him. Geoffery has also
performed with Buddy Williams in Carnarvon, and he has had several of his own songs recorded by the famous C&W musicians including ‘ The Ballad of Charlie Fletcher”, “Scrub Bull” and “Stock Camp Cook”.
