The Little Piggies
Little Piggies formed in 1995, after a family band was required for a St. John of God centennial celebration in Broome. The members of the group were selected after being seen at Pigram family gatherings, playing along with the nationally acclaimed PIGRAM BROTHERS BAND. The Little Piggies at the time were aged between 7 and 11 years old.
Their initial performance highlights include:
Two time Junior winners at the Derby Country Music Festival 1996 & 1997, ABC TV program- Kam Yan, Channel 7- Bush Telegraph, SBS-ICAM, Stompem Ground 1996, Support Jack Jones-Shinju 1996, Shinju 1997, Coexistence Concert-Fremantle 1997, Sydney Survival 1998, Stompem Ground 1998, toured the Kimberley performing at all major towns, plus numerous local gigs around Broome.
They launched their album DREAMING IN BROOME in 1997.
Early 1999 saw the departure of three older members of the band, Candice, Lloyd, and Waylon. Leaving Alana, Dyann, Tristram, Agnes, Phillip and Kaleb, as members of the next phase of the group.
With this new line-up they toured the Goldfields region of Western Australia, and performed at the Warrnambool Festival for Children in Victoria
They co wrote and recorded six songs for a Substance Abuse Program set out by the Kimberley Catholic Education. They are also featured in a story for the ABC TV program Race Around Oz, while still performing at locally around Broome.
Members of the LITTLE PIGGIES occasionally get together and perform but most are no longer little and are venturing into various sectors of the workforce including the music industry.
Despite moving on the Little Piggies popularity continues to grow with sales of the Dreaming In Broome album increasing year after year. Dreaming In Broome is a desired souvenir that many tourists acquire when visiting the pearling town.
